Ring Diagram Analysis Products
Ring diagrams are obtained from a time series of Dopplergrams of a specific area of the Sun, generally tracked with the mean
rotation velocity. The three dimensional Fourier transform of this time series gives a power spectrum which is referred to as a "Ring diagram".
Ring-diagram analysis is used to infer the speed and direction of horizontal flows below the solar surface by observing the Doppler shifts of ambient acoustic waves from power spectra of solar oscillations computed over patches of the solar surface. Data analysis pipelines are used to produce spatially-resolved data describing the fluid motions and thermal structure in the sub-surface regions of the solar convection zone. Two pipelines are operational, one producing synoptic views of the flows and structure on regular spatial grids, and the other producing detailed flow and structure anomalies associated with specific target regions.

Modules
- rdcover: rdcover generates estimates of the effective duty cycle (coverage)
in its input data source for a time range, cadence, and selection
criteria identical to those that would be supplied to rdcover.
It is intended for use in filtering front ends for pipeline scripts
that automatically process data over extended time ranges .
- datavg: datavg averages the data from a selected segment in a set of DRMS records,
constructing "images" (hypercubes of the same dimensionality as the input
segment) of the mean value, the standard deviation, and the number of valid
values for each pixel over the set.
.
- mtrack: mtrack takes as its input a dataset of records representing solar
image data observed at a uniform temporal cadence, and produces as
its output a set of records representing mapped cubes at selected
heliographic coordinates, tracked at selected rates for the duration
of the input data interval. The tracked data cubes provide the input
to pspec3 and all subsequent ring-diagram analysis procedures; they
also provide input to the time-distance analysis pipeline and possibly
other local analysis procedures. They may also be used for animations. .
